THANKSGIVING - WYA's Signature Event of the Year

2023

This past Sunday, November 19 - WYA held our largest service event of the year, our annual Thanksgiving Cooking and Interfaith Service in partnership with Temple Shaaray Tefila in Mount Kisco. Over 80 teens joined together to chop, sort, mix and mash the ingredients for Thanksgiving meals that will be distributed to 20 organizations through-out the County. Teens from over 25 Westchester County high schools rolled-up their sleeves together from Peekskill to Scarsdale, Ossining to Rye Brook, and many towns in between.

This grassroots initiative spearheaded by Temple Shaaray Tefila is preparing and distributing 4,000 holiday meals to combat food insecurity this year.

2022

80+ WYA teens from 23 different area high schools, and 17 different religious organizations joined hands in helping to prepare and cook over 3,000 meals for those in need in Westchester. Teens spent time learning about each other before the mashing, chopping and packing began. Thank you Temple Shaaray Tefila for welcoming our young volunteers.

Immediately following WYA participated in a beautiful interfaith ceremony at the Bedford Presbyterian Church where WYA teens Fariha Rahman and Hanifa Thein took the podium to speak about personal gratitude.
