Our 2020 Fall Kick-Off (on 10/18) was a great success! Westchester Youth Alliance was able to (safely) gather 40 teens from across Westchester County at Mountain Lakes Park, where we built community through socially distanced games, activities, and dialogue. We also designed and decorated flags with social justice messages for our Justice Flags Project (which will soon be on display in Katonah).

On 10/27, Westchester Youth Alliance hosted a follow up Zoom discussion. Whereas during Fall Kick-off we focused on creating community, our follow up discussion focused on finding ways to foster inclusivity in the communities we are already a part of. We collectively brainstormed practical social action opportunities that can be used to increase understanding, break down barriers, and create a more harmonious atmosphere in the various communities our teens are a part of. We also discussed our upcoming programming, as well as how to join our Teen Leadership group.

Watch this recap video to see clips from Fall Kick-off and the progression of our justice flags project from start to finish! You can find our justice flags hanging in Katonah at the downtown gazebo and the Katonah Village Library for the rest of the year!
